Title: Landscape Design Engineer

Overview of the Profession
Landscape design is the art and science of arranging outdoor spaces to create functional, sustainable, and aesthetically pleasing environments. It involves the strategic use of plants, hardscape elements (such as pathways, patios, and built structures), water features, and lighting systems to enhance the natural beauty and usability of an area.
A Landscape Design Engineer is responsible for planning, designing, and supervising the implementation of landscape projects in industrial zones, public spaces, and urban developments.
1. Job Responsibilities
a. Landscape Design (Conceptual & Construction Drawings)

Develop design concepts and construction drawings for various landscape projects: parks, urban streetscapes, industrial campuses, commercial showrooms, factory gardens, and office landscapes.

Conduct site surveys, analyze soil conditions, drainage systems, and topography to determine suitable plant species and develop 3D perspective drawings tailored to each project.

Prepare quantity take-offs and cost estimates: create detailed material take-off tables, calculate labor and material requirements, and draft construction budgets for reporting to senior management.

Utilize GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and design software (AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, Lumion/D5 Render, Photoshop) to create detailed and accurate landscape plans.

Produce and compile complete sets of design documents: base drawings, construction drawings, as-built drawings, and technical specifications as per company standards.
b. Plant Maintenance & Greenery Management

Propose and manage procurement plans for tools, fertilizers, and pesticides required for assigned landscape and green projects.

Provide technical guidance to field teams on maintenance schedules and plant care across all company-managed sites.
c. Project Implementation & Coordination

Oversee landscape construction projects from approved design plans through to execution.

Review and validate construction methods, layout plans, and plant selections.

Collaborate with purchasing and site teams to source greenery materials, monitor product quality, and manage logistics.

Supervise contractors and monitor on-site landscape works to ensure quality, progress, and accuracy of implementation.

Coordinate with cost control departments to track project budgets and verify deliverables for contractor payments.

Participate in handover and acceptance procedures of completed works with clients.

Create and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance schedules.

Update and manage final as-built drawings and project documentation.

Prepare regular reports on project status and departmental activities.
d. Other Duties

Perform self-assessments and peer reviews to improve work quality.

Undertake additional assignments as delegated by upper management.
2. Candidate Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Architecture, Civil Engineering, Forestry, Horticulture, or related fields.

Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in landscape design or a similar position.

Strong understanding of construction codes, landscape design standards, and technical regulations.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and landscape design software: AutoCAD, 3Ds Max/SketchUp, Revit, Lumion/D5 Render, Adobe Photoshop.

Creative mindset with a keen sense of spatial design, layout composition, and color theory.

Passion for landscape design with attention to detail, commitment, and a proactive learning attitude.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively; capable of handling work pressure and deadlines.

Willingness to travel for short-term site visits as required.
